Introduction: The dominant global public health challenge are non-communicable diseases. According to World Health Organization (WHO) data. The fifth leading causes of death in FB&H are diseases of the heart and coronary arteries: stroke, acute myocardial infarction, cardiac arrest, cardiomyopathy and essential hypertension. The prevention of these diseases has great importance in improving health in B&H. Objective: The aim of this study is in estimation of one-year survival and left heart systolic function after the treatment. After the data collection and evidence of their statistical value, the results of the research point to the profile of patients with a LAD disease in one-vessel coronary artery disease that should be subjected to PCI DES LAD and PCI BMS LAD, respectively, or creating guidelines for a better and more effective LAD treatment. Material and methods: The study was performed as retrospective/ prospective, clinically controlled for a period of three years. In this study was included 60 patients, which was followed in 12 months period. With the PCI BMS method was treated 63.3% and 36.7% of subjects were treated with the PCI DES in LAD. Conclusion: The number of complications in patients with one-vessel LAD coronary heart disease, treated with PCI DES and PCI BMS was statistically significant. One possible complication (4 patients) is due to the spread of the disease to other blood vessels. Due to possible complications in the treated or LAD with repeated stenosis, the complication in terms of restenosis of the previously placed stent in 75% are with BM stents justifying the use of drug eluting stent, while the progression of disease in patients (2 patients) indicates the need for detection and prevention of risk factors.
Introduction: Breast cancer and its treatment change the perception of mastectomized women of their physical appearance, which leads to depression and has a negative effect on the overall quality of life of those woman. Aim: We wanted to assess the quality of life and the degree of depression of patients suffering from breast cancer, on the basis of a standardised questionnaire to assess the patients’ quality of life (QLQ-C-30 BR-23), and the degree of depression using Beck’s Depression Inventory (BDI, II). Materials and Methods: The research was conducted on a sample of 160 patients, who were surveyed before and after the surgical procedure. The inclusion criteria for the research were: patients suffering from breast cancer aged between 18 and 70 years, cancer diagnosed by FNB or CORE biopsy. The patients were divided into two groups: patients having breast-conserving surgery and patients having radical surgical treatment. Results: There were 47 or 39.37% patients who underwent breast-conserving surgery and 113 or 70.62% patients who underwent radical surgery. The results of the survey conducted show that there was no difference in the quality of life of patients before and after surgery, regardless of the type of surgical procedure undertaken. However, there was a significant different in the degree of depression between patients subjected to different surgical procedures, where the patients surveyed post-surgery after radical mastectomy showed a higher degree of depression than the patients surveyed after breast-conserving surgery. Conclusion: There is no difference in the quality of life before and after surgery, regardless of the type of operation. However, there is a significant difference in the degree of depression in patients after radical mastectomy, who showed a higher degree of depression than the surveyed patients who underwent breast-conserving surgery.
Introduction: Small number of studies have evaluated the mortality and the degree of functional disability of post-stroke delirium, and our aim was to determine that. Patients and Methods: Comprehensive neuropsychological assessments were performed within the first week of stroke onset, at hospital discharge, and followed-up for 3, 6 and 12 months after stroke. We used diagnostic tools such as Glasgow Coma Scale, Delirium Rating Scale, National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale and Mini-Mental State. Results: Delirious patients had a significantly higher mortality (p = 0.0005). As opposed to the type of stroke mortality was higher after ischemic (p = 0.0005). The patients without delirium had significantly better cumulative survival during the first year after stroke (p = 0.0005). Delirious patients aged ≥65 years had a significantly lower cumulative survival during the first year after stroke (p = 0.0005). In relation to the type of stroke delirious patients with ischemic had a significantly lower cumulative survival during the first year after stroke (p = 0.0005). Delirious patients had a greater degree of functional impairment at discharge (p = 0.01), three (p = 0.01), six months (p = 0.01) and one year (p = 0.01) after stroke. Conclusion: Delirious patients have a significantly higher mortality, lower cumulative survival and a greater degree of functional disability in the first year after stroke.
630*8:620.95(497.6 Kakanj) 620.9:582.632.2(497.6 Kakanj) Biomass has a huge renewable energy source potential, forest biomass in particular. Forest biomass effectively includes aboveground parts of tree trunk including: stem, treetop with leaves/needles, bark, seeds, and cones. Although it is biomass, stump is not used in natural forests. Beech (Fagus sylvatica L.) is a dominant tree in the forests of Bosnia and Herzegovina and it is important raw material used in wood assortment production. Once beech assortment is cut down, processing and hauled there is a significant quantity of unused wood biomass which can be effectively used as source of renewable energy. This is way the objective of this paper was to determine overall quantity of beech tree biomass in Compartment 92, Subcompartment „a”, MU „Žuća-Ribnica“, assess quantity of forest biomass (usable timber left after felling and branches - biomass above 7 cm), determine quantity of forest biomass (wood biomass from 3 to 7 cm), and also quantity of bark. The research included 60 beech trees. Volume of tree trunk and trunk bark was determined by sectioning method and branch mass was determined by weighting. Adjusted values of tree trunk and bark volumes were converted in dry matter mass using information provided by. The research findings showed that 73% (1,605.24 tons) of beech wood biomass is used in Compartment 92, Subcompartment „a”, MU „Žuća-Ribnica“, while 27% (582.59 tons) remain unused in the forest. This altogether indicates that a large portion of beech biomass is not used as energy source.
Abstract Following the UN adoption of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development in September 2015, the Government of Montenegro entered in the final phase of revising of National Strategy for Sustainable Development (NSSD 2030). Under the supervision of the National Council for Sustainable Development, Climate Change and Integrated Coastal Zone Management, an NSSD team of national and international experts was assembled under the coordination of the Ministry of Sustainable Development and Tourism. To demonstrate commitment to the UN 2030 Agenda, Montenegro decided to center the NSSD 2030 on the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), targets and indicators. One of the first UN member countries to implement the UN 2030 Agenda within the national policy context, Montenegro adopted its NSSD 2030 on July 7, 2016. As members of the NSSD team, here we 1) describe how the UN 2030 Agenda has been implemented within the policy context of Montenegro’s NSSD 2030, and 2) focus on the identification of the NSSD 2030 monitoring and reporting framework. Our key finding is that 26 institutions will be handling data for assessing 137 out of the 241 (56.8%) SDG indicators in the first reporting period scheduled for 2019. Although the paper deals with the implementation of the SDGs in Montenegro and its implications, we believe it will be useful in informing other countries in their process of national transposition and operationalization of the UN 2030 Agenda.
Abstract The main objective of endodontic treatment is to remove vital and necrotic remnants of pulp tissue and microorganisms and their toxic products from the root canal. During chemo-mechanical endodontic preparation, a smear layer is formed on the wall of the canals. Due to an inability to remove all tissue remnants and the smear layer from the root canal by mechanical instrumentation, it is necessary to use irrigation to ensure sufficient cleaning and disinfection of the largest part of the root canalicular system. The most commonly used irrigants are sodium hypochlorite (Na-OCl), ethylenediaminetetraacetic acid (EDTA), citric acid and chlorhexidine (CHX). Recently, the irrigants QMix and MTAD have been introduced to the market. They are a mixture of different components having antimicrobial, organolytic and mineralytic effects on canal detritus and the smear layer. This review article investigates irrigants in terms of the nature of their effect, their efficiency, optimal concentration, and method of use, and the interactions between the irrigants most commonly used in endodontic therapy are discussed, with special emphasis on QMix and MTAD.
Aerogels are the least dense and most porous materials known to man, with potential applications from lightweight superinsulators to smart energy materials. To date their use has been seriously hampered by their synthesis methods, which are laborious and expensive. Taking inspiration from the life cycle of the damselfly, a novel ambient pressure‐drying approach is demonstrated in which instead of employing low‐surface‐tension organic solvents to prevent pore collapse during drying, sodium bicarbonate solution is used to generate pore‐supporting carbon dioxide in situ, significantly reducing energy, time, and cost in aerogel production. The generic applicability of this readily scalable new approach is demonstrated through the production of granules, monoliths, and layered solids with a number of precursor materials.
BACKGROUND Although agility is an important quality in basketball, factors associated with basketball specific pre-planned-agility (change-of-direction-speed, CODS) and non-planned-agility (reactive agility, RA) are rarely investigated. The aim of this study was to evaluate relationship between anthropometric and motor indices with basketball-specific CODS and RA in male basketball players of high performance level. METHODS We tested 88 high-level male basketball players (height: 194.62±8.09 cm; body mass: 89.13±10.81 kg; age: 21.12±3.47 years). The sample was randomly divided into validation (N.=44) and cross-validation (N.=44) subsamples. The study variables included: broad-jump, countermovement-jump, reactive-strength-index, visual-reaction-time, body height, body mass, and body fat percentage (predictors); as well as basketball-specific CODS and RA (criteria). Univariate associations were assessed by Pearson's correlation coefficients. Multivariate relationships between the predictors and the criteria were assessed with multiple regression analysis for the validation subsample, which was then cross-validated. RESULTS The established multiple regression models were successfully cross-validated for CODS (R2=0.40 and 0.36; P=0.01) and RA (R2=0.38 and 0.41; P=0.01, for validation and cross-validation subsample, respectively). The broad-jump (i.e., horizontal displacement) is important predictor of CODS (Beta=-0.41; P=0.01); anthropometrics and body build are specifically associated with RA (Beta=0.51, -0.61 and 0.41 for body height, body mass and body fat percentage, respectively; all P<0.05), while reactive-strength-index is directly related both to CODS (Beta=-0.41, P=0.02), and RA (Beta=-0.40, P=0.03). CONCLUSIONS While basketball players are differentially oriented toward specific game duties, specific capacities should be developed in order to meet specific sport requirements.
Abstract Websites are one of the most widely distributed information resources. Educational institutions use this resource to ensure that the best quality of information transmission is achieved. As such, academic sites have become a very important aspect of academic institutions, one that affects their overall quality. Bearing in mind the importance of university websites’ quality, the authors of this paper presented a multi-criteria model for evaluating the quality of university websites. This paper presents the hybrid IR-AHP-MABAC (Interval Rough Analytic Hierarchy Process - MultiAttributive Border Approximation Area Comparison) model. The model is adapted to group decision making as based on the application of a new approach to treating uncertainties through the use of interval rough numbers (IRN). The modified IR-AHP method was used to determine the weight coefficients of the criteria in the group decision-making process. The results of the IR-AHP model are compared with results provided by the traditional AHP method and the fuzzy AHP approach. The IR-MABAC model was used for the evaluation of university websites. In order to verify the results of the IRN based approach, the IR-MABAC model was compared to the F-TOPSIS (Fuzzy Technique for Order of Preference by Similarity to Ideal Solution), F-VIKOR (Fuzzy MultiCriterion Optimization and Compromise Solution), F-COPRAS (Fuzzy COmpressed PRoportional ASsessment), F-MAIRCA (Fuzzy MultiAtributive Ideal-Real Comparative Analysis), and F-TODIM (an acronym of Interactive and Multi Criteria Decision Making in Portuguese) models. The credibility of the IR-AHP-MABAC model was demonstrated by comparing the results of different multi-criteria techniques and analyzing viability. The results of the IRN approach and fuzzy comparison have shown that the new approach to dealing with imprecision yields credible, reputable ranks.
Even though coordinate measuring machines (CMM) still achieve the most accurate measurement results, non-contact (optical) measuring systems are applied more and more in industry. The reasons of using optical scanners are in the higher speed of acquisition, higher density of data-points and better surface description, the ability to scan complex and non-rigid surfaces etc in comparison to contcact devices. This paper gives a review of state-of-the-art measuring contact and non-contact inspection technologies in industrial applications. Listed are the devices, principles and systems that are used at the data-acquisition (triangulation, time-of-flight and interferometry). The description of contact measuring machines (portable CMM and stationary CMM) and devices for non-contact scanning (laser scanner, structured light scanner and CT scanner) is given, and their advatages and disadvantages are mentioned with corresponding literature review.
Abstract The paper provides an overview of the trend in the concentration of the total assets of banks in Croatia for the period from 2007 to 2016 with the aim of analysing and presenting the changes that occurred in the system. Also, the paper shows the theoretical framework of the indicators used in the research as well as the comparison of their obtained values. The data used to calculate the total assets concentration are taken from the Croatian National Bank. The concentration indices used in the study include the entropy measure, the Theil entropy, the Gini coefficient, the Pietra index, the Atkinson index and the coefficient of variation. The results indicate a very slight decrease in concentration over the past several years, while the coefficient of variation points to the heterogeneity of the system, as well as to inequalities among the banks, which are most evident in the size of banks assets.
Introduction Since the discovery and clinical success of the platinum(II) anticancer drug, cisplatin, researchers are putting much effort to develop more efficient metal-based therapeutic compounds, with fewer side-effects and greater cytoselectivity. Ruthenium complexes arose as promising anticancer agents, due to the success of some ruthenium drug candidates in clinical trials. Here we report comparison of in vitro cytotoxic activity and mechanisms of action of cisplatin and four newly synthesised ruthenium(III) complexes with bidentate anionic schiff base derived from 5-methylsalicilaldehyde and methylamine: (complexes 1– 4). Material and methods Cytotoxicity was tested on four human cancer cell lines (K562, A549, EA.hy926, MDA-MB231) and one human non-tumour cell line (MRC-5), by MTT assay. Being the most cytotoxic of all four tested complexes, complex 1 (C1) (Na[RuLCl2], L=N-propyl-5-chlorosalicideniminato) is selected for further analyses of molecular mechanisms underlying its activity toward MDA-MB231 cells. Results and discussions The average IC50 values were in the low micromolar range 2–23 µM, depending on cell line. Investigated complexes displayed an apparent cytoselective profile, as they reduced the viability of tested tumour cell lines more efficiently than of the non-tumour MRC-5 cells. Cisplatin resistant MDA-MB231 cells showed to be ten times more sensitive to C1 (IC50=2 µM) than to cisplatin. 24 hour treatment of MDA-MB231 cells with IC50 values of C1 and cisplatin induced minor cell cycle alterations, while 48 hour treatment induced substantial accumulation of cells in Sub-G1 region, up to 22.4% (C1) and 86.4% (cisplatin), versus control 4.8%. Acridine orange/ethidium bromide dual staining confirmed the Annexin V-FITC/PI assay results of notable reduction in cell number after the treatment with C1 and cisplatin. While cisplatin-treated cells prominently die of necrosis, C1-treated cells after 24 hour treatment show apoptotic morphology, but after prolonged treatment, necrosis becomes predominant. Decrease in the intracellular levels of reactive oxygen species was comparable in the cisplatin-treated and C1-treated cells, with cisplatin displaying more conspicuous effects at higher dose. C1 entered the cells more efficiently compared to cisplatin. Intracellular C1 concentration after 4 hour treatment exceeded that of cisplatin by 7.8 times approximately. Conclusion Present study pointed out interesting activity of this type of ruthenium(III) complex and need for further biological studies and its chemical structure optimisation.
