Vertical temperature profiles represent a very important factor for various analytical and numerical studies, such as weather forecasts, air pollution models and CFD simulations. These temperature profiles are especially important during the winter periods, when temperature inversions occur. The cities in the natural valleys, such as the city of Sarajevo, B&H, are strongly affected by this phenomenon. In this paper, a method for quantitative characterization of vertical temperature profiles, which is based on the in-house developed data acquisition system and the unmanned aerial vehicle, is presented. Comprehensive calibration and verification procedure was performed and explained in details. Field measurements were focused on the winter period and extreme temperature inversion scenarios. The correlation with the air pollution in the city, for the same period, was discussed as well.
In Bosnia and Herzegovina the official use of language in a written statement implies the publication of one document in three languages, so that all legal documents have three language versions. In this paper we analyzed the use of adjectives in these texts and singled out generative qualities of the adjectives used to compose the three version of the same text. Furthermore, normative status in each standard is presented separately, which allowed us to normatively assess their use. After the research it was confirmed that the distinction made between the language versions of the texts are based on the suffix formation of certain descriptive and related adjectives from nouns and the selection of different suffixes, and that some differences do not have the necessary normative or stylistic justification.
Myeloperoxidase (MPO), an abundant hemoprotein present in neutrophils and monocytes, plays a significant role in immune surveillance and host defense mechanisms. However, increased MPO activity has been linked to a number of pathologies with compelling evidence in initiation and progression of inflammatory events. As a result, search for active compounds that can efficiently inhibit MPO activity and subsequently decrease inflammatory events has been focus of the current research. This perspective provides an overview of the development of MPO inhibitors, their mechanism of action and the review of molecules that were in clinical trials as promising MPO inhibitors.
A contingency perspective of knowledge management, as one of the popular ways of promoting decision making capabilities, recognizes the need for a fit between knowledge management solutions (KMS) and decision-making contexts which they support. In order to determine the best fit, a field survey was carried out to investigate the impact of two different types of KMS (technical and social) on decision makers' behavior and performance in different decision contexts (simple and complex). According to the results, there is a partial support for the contingency view. As expected, social KMS appears as the best fit for complex contexts, based on subjects' superior performance from comparable adoption of both KMS. In contrast, the results suggest that both KMS were an equally good fit for simple contexts, based on similar levels of subjects' performance, but social KMS was preferred in terms of adoption. These findings contribute to much necessary empirical evidence for research and provide useful guidance for practice. However, their limitations necessitate further study.
