PurposeThis paper presents a citation-based systematic literature review in the field of sustainability management for Arab countries. The aim is to assist potential researchers in this field to identify existing themes, gaps and other relevant information necessary for the further development of the research area.Design/methodology/approachA comprehensive list of keywords has been searched in the SCOPUS database to identify all the relevant articles in the field of sustainability management in Arab countries. After applying the relevant restriction criteria, manual screening of titles, abstracts and keywords was performed to identify the final sample. The final sample consists of 410 articles published in 218 different journals by 907 authors. Bibliometrix R-tool was used to conduct a comprehensive bibliometric analysis of the selected articles.FindingsFindings indicate a growing trend of publications on sustainability management in the generally understudied Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region. Besides publication trends, citation analysis presents citation trends, most influential journals and authors, and most cited articles on sustainability management in Arab countries. Theme identification is shown through analyses of conceptual and intellectual structures. Finally, social networks in the field are discussed.Practical implicationsInformation presented in this paper informs interested researchers about the current state in the field, relevant sources of knowledge, important literature on the topic, relevant authors and other valuable particulars. This systematic literature review helps researchers make further valuable contributions to the field of sustainability management in Arab countries.Originality/valueTo the best of the authors' knowledge, this paper offers a first comprehensive citation-based systematic literature review on sustainability management in Arab countries.

The research is conducted to study the outcome of digital leadership on dynamic capabilities, innovation capabilities, and alliances capabilities in manufacturing industries within the Malaysian context. Today, developing corporations and industries, at the least, require a virtual transformation to have greater organizational abilities in shaping and growing their new and present commercial enterprise to healthy the brand-new generation paradigm. A cross-sectional quantitative method has been used in this study with a sample of 132 respondents with different industry back grounds. These respondents are organizations, which are based on the nature of a business role like authorized representative, distributor, importer, manufacturer, combination authorized representative, distributor and importer, and combination distributor and importer that located in Selangor, Malaysia. The research used the SMART PLS software to analyze and interpret the results. There main hypotheses are proposed and tested. The results showed that digital leadership positively affects dynamic capabilities, innovation capabilities, and alliances capabilities.

The COVID-19 pandemic has altered the way business is conducted. The widespread closure of commercial organizations presents opportunities to reset the way business activities are conducted. Regardless of the organization’s size or its status as a domestic or international firm, due diligence is required to find solutions that will allow firms to sustain their business activities in uncertain times. This study addresses this issue and attempts to identify issues that require urgent attention so that organizations can be effective and efficient in their global operations. In this context, the study proposes three imperatives for global/international businesses to sustain their operations in the long term. These imperatives include having a strong reserve fund, access to a local mutual fund, and networking to form alliances in host countries. Other implications are discussed, and we identify areas for future research.

PurposeThe aim of this study is to investigate a mediation role of leadership over business performance and socioemotional wealth, within two Bosnian family businesses. This research purpose brings interesting highlights regarding how family businesses embedded the role of leadership that it might have a tremendous influence on business performance while tuning the socioemotional wealth.Design/methodology/approachThis study is based on qualitative research methodology. The sample is collected based on a purposive sampling method as in most qualitative studies. As the instrument for data collection is concerned, in-person-semi-structured interview has been employed with the owner-manager of each particular-family firm. Thus, two case studies were conducted and analyzed.FindingsThe research contributes both to the theory and the practice. From the theoretical perspective, it contributes to the theoretical knowledge of leadership as an important role in relationship between the socioemotional wealth and business performance. The practical contribution of this research could be summed up in the sense that business owners should seek to employ positive leadership vibes to create a good socioemotional wealth so that would be positively reflected in overall business performance of a family business. Other findings are further discussed.Originality/valueScarce empirical research offers mixed results while theoretical propositions that organizational governance (leadership) plays an important role in this relationship, is somehow neglected. Hence, this is the first empirical study on this particular that investigates this topic in Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH), even in the Balkan region.

The study examines a relationship among strategic leadership, strategic performance and core competence among teachers from Lebanon educational sector. Using sample size of 106 observations, with convenient sampling method, result showed that core competence has a direct effect on strategic performance and strategic leadership. Conversely, strategic leadership has not shown its significant mediation role in effecting strategic performance through the core competence. Examination of the data is performed using mediation regression model. Other implications, limitations, and future works are further discussed.
